Agricultural Futures Exchange of Thailand (Afet) will open bidding a big lot of rice 763,920 tonnes including jasmine rice and 5 per cent rice on August 6.
The auction comes under the National Rice Policy Committee approval to bring the government rice stockpile under the Commerce Ministry's rice pledging programme.
It is also planned to increase rice supply in local market which now rice packers and exporters are hard to purchase rice from the themarket.
The bidding will be managed by Afet at meeting room 30410 at Commerce Ministry during 9.00-12.00 am. Of the total bidding lot, jasmine rice accounts for 300,000 tonnes and the remainder is 5 per cent rice.
