Dep PM to resolve conflict in rice committee.

The Deputy Prime Minister for national security is confident that a dispute between two members of the national rice committee will be settled at tonight's meeting and will not cause a ripple effect among the coalition parties.

Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban has said he is ready mediate in the conflict between Deputy Prime Minister for economic Affairs Korbsak Sabawasu and Commerce Minister Porntiwa Nakasai , who serve as members of the national rice committee.

Disagreements emerged when the two expressed differing ideas about how to solve the ongoing rice problems.

Suthep added that the committee is meeting tonight and will present a report to the Cabinet next week.

Meanwhile, Suthep stated that the Cabinet rejected the NGV bus-leasing plan because it wants the Transport Ministry to carefully study the pros and cons of the project. He reiterated that the maintenance is too costly.

The Cabinet agreed in principle to the Transport Ministry’s plan to lease 4,000 NGV-powered buses last week but has ordered the ministry to review leasing agreements and quotes. The proposal will be resubmitted to the Cabinet next week.
