Thai rice prices, the benchmark for Asia, rose to a five-month high yesterday as the strengthening baht made the commodity more expensive for overseas buyers, according to the Thai Rice Exporters Association.
The price of 100% grade-B white rice gained 0.6% to $498 a tonne, spokesman Pisanu Sangyoo said after the association's weekly price-setting meeting.
The price of 25% broken rice advanced to $452 a tonne from $448 on Sept 8.
