On November 1 -3, 2001, the Rice Exporters Association with supports of the Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce, convened the Thailand Rice Convention 2001 at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel. Dr.Somkid Jatusripitak, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, was the president of the opening ceremony and kindly greeted quests at the convention.
The convention included seminars and meetings of rice importers and people representing the media approximately 200 people from all over the world. The convention well achieving its targets, all the attendants were impressed with the results of the meetings. Moreover, it is very likely that the exportation of Thai rice to the world market would receive more favorable response in the future.
