The Thailand Rice Convention 2004 is a testament to the enduring power of good idea.
Three years ago, the Kingdom’s first international rice conference the Thailand Rice Convention 2001 – was born from a single realization: although Thailand had long been the world’s largest exporter of rice, it had never hosted an international rice convention.
That conference, organized by the Rice Exporters Association with the support of the Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce, set the standard for others to follow.
This year’s conference, the second of its kind, is setting standards of its own.
In an outstanding example of successful cooperation between the public and private sectors, the Thailand Rice Convention 2004 is jointly organized by the nation’s Department of Foreign Trade and the Rice Exporters Association.
The convention draws on skills and expertise from across the community, from rice farmers, traders and exporters to public relations and event specialists, hospitality and travel experts to government officials, to the Prime Minister himself – all working together to achieve a single goal.
Inspired by an idea and empowered by cooperation, the Thailand Rice Convention 2004 reflects the spirit of harmony that is the essence of Thailand, a spirit that includes rather than excludes, a spirit that stems from a people who know how to work together to get the job done.
